Running a Security Scan

Security scans use your credits. Each scan consumes one credit from your website's allocation.

1

Select a Website

Navigate to the website you want to scan and go to the "Scans" tab in the website details page.

2

Click Run Security Scan

Click the "Run Security Scan" button. If you have available credits, the scan will begin immediately.

3

Wait for Results

Scans take a while depending on the complexity of your website. You'll receive a notification when the scan is complete.

â„šī¸

Note

You can navigate away from the page while a scan is running. The scan continues in the background and results will be available when you return.

Understanding Scan Results

Scan results are organized by severity to help you prioritize fixes.

🔴 CriticalImmediate action required
🟠 HighShould be fixed soon
🟡 MediumPlan to address
đŸŸĸ LowOptional improvements
â„šī¸ InfoFor your information

Each finding includes a detailed description, the affected component, and recommended remediation steps to help you fix the issue.

Scan Types

WebVault Pro offers different types of scans to analyze various aspects of your website's security.

đŸ›Ąī¸

Passive Scan

Non-intrusive scanning that analyzes publicly available information without making changes to your website.

🔍

Active Scan

More comprehensive scanning that actively probes for vulnerabilities. Provides deeper insights but may generate some traffic to your site.

Best Practices

  • Run regular security scans - we recommend at least monthly for production sites
  • Address critical and high severity issues promptly
  • Re-scan after making security fixes to verify they're resolved
  • Review scan history to track your security posture over time
  • Set up team notifications so security issues are addressed quickly
💡

Pro Tip

Pro and Enterprise plans include more credits per website and faster renewal periods, allowing for more frequent security scanning.
